In Loving Memory of Macie
12/26/2025
Yesterday, Macie went to the Rainbow Bridge to join her big sister Bella and her big brother Dylan.
Macie had all the classic traits of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel — but softened, quieter, and steadier. She was never the one who needed the spotlight. Instead, she was content being the backup player, the one who could step into any role and fill it just as well as the star.
Like all Cavaliers, she had her own unique personality — one that was ten times her size. The only time you ever saw attitude from Macie was if dinner was late, or if she thought you had been gone too long. When that happened, she would make sure to let you know, telling you everything the other pups or the cat had done while you were away — all while asking for a back rub.
She was a devoted little sister to Bella, my first star. Bella and Macie were inseparable until Bella passed just four years after Macie joined our family. Their bond was quiet and constant, the kind that didn’t need words.
Macie was patient and tolerant with her big brother Dylan, a rescue Cavalier who wasn’t always sweet and didn’t quite fit the typical mold. She accepted him exactly as he was.
When Bella and Dylan were both gone, it was Macie who stepped up. Whatever role was needed, she was ready to fill it — steady, willing, and kind.
Then came Milo — a Cavalier to the extreme — full of need, full of personality, determined to be the top dog. Macie never once complained or grew upset. She didn’t compete. She simply made room.
Macie had the strongest will of any little dog I have ever known. She pushed through illness and pain just to be there for us, staying present and loving right up until her last breath.
She lived her life with grace, patience, humor, and quiet devotion.
She gave far more than she ever asked for.
And she leaves behind a space that can never truly be filled.
She was a great girl.
