The Iredell County Sheriff's Office, the FBI, and multiple local, state, and federal agencies are expanding the investigation to find 14-year-old Gideon Ferguson.
Gideon has now been missing for more than 48 hours. From the very beginning, we have been running parallel efforts to find him. While you've seen a physical search of the area near his home on Watermoss Drive, detectives have also been working around the clock. These law enforcement professionals have conducted interviews, examined surveillance video, obtained search warrants for electronic devices, and many other investigative steps with one goal to find Gideon and bring him home safely to his family.
In the past few hours, we've been able to get a better timeline of when Gideon was last seen. He was dropped off at home closer to 3:30pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
With no sightings of Gideon and the brutally cold temperatures, we are launching additional billboards across North Carolina and are adding him to the FBI's website and FBI national and Charlotte social media accounts as a missing and endangered child.
"Our Iredell County community is tight-knit and has already been so beneficial to the Sheriff's Office to spread the word about our massive efforts to find Gideon. We appreciate all your support and ask for you to share our social media posts, pray for Gideon's family, and also pray for everyone committed to reuniting Gideon with his family," said Sheriff Darren Campbell.
