✨ FINAL REVEAL ✨ | Spirit Week 2025

What an incredible, humbling, and heartwarming week this has been. Over the last 7 days, our community showed up in a way that words can hardly capture. Together, we came alongside Kyle Shaver and his four boys to bring new life into their home — and today, we finally get to share the beautiful results with you.

Thanks to the kindness of 44 volunteers, 10 generous contractors, and $17,900 in donated funds, we were able to accomplish so much more than we imagined:

✅ Refinished the worn hardwood floors that now shine like new
✅ Installed brand-new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, and a dishwasher, giving this family a warm, welcoming space to gather
✅ Hung and finished 30+ sheets of drywall to restore walls that were....tired
✅ Added new lighting throughout the home to brighten every room
✅ Painted the entire interior, filling it with fresh color and new beginnings
✅ Installed a brand-new central heating and air system to ensure comfort through every season
✅ Added 2 bedroom closets
✅ Added stair and deck railings for safety

What began as a renovation turned into something so much deeper — a reminder of the power of love, kindness, and community. Watching neighbors, strangers, and friends work side by side, trade stories, and lift each other up has been a beautiful thing to witness.

To every single person who donated, swung a hammer, painted a wall, or shared a kind word — THANK YOU. You didn’t just fix up a house. You gave a family hope, peace, and a fresh start. The Shaver boys now have a safe, beautiful space to grow up in, and Kyle has been reminded that he’s not alone in this journey.

This is what community looks like. This is what Spirit Week is all about. And this is why we’ll keep showing up — again and again.

DAY6: THE FINAL STRETCH

The volunteers gave us a hard push today. A special thanks to the Trail Life Mountain Lions of Troop 19 and their Dads for starting strong this morning.

Thank you Jason from The Point Church in Charlottesville for supporting us and working so hard today.

Thank you Kascie & Queen City Salvage & Design for stopping by and getting us the help we needed. 🙏

We finished strong 💪 with Sophie Bergquist Homes & Jenny Mitchell Homes and family tackling multiple rooms upstairs. We so appreciate you!

Lastly a big thanks to our team at Spirit Homes: Amy for helping to clean every day and to Luke for working all shifts every day and managing a busy Saturday solo. You’ve been a huge part of helping make this Spirit Week a success.

DAY5: Crunch Time!

We certainly turned the corner today. A massive effort from everyone at the house. We had 21 volunteers and contractors today and we definately needed it.

A special thanks to Katie and Nick from Clean Slate Property Solutions Inc. for helping us with cleaning and moving furniture.

Thanks to Zeek and Tanner from Staunton Trail Life, Troop 19 for helping with inside projects.

DAY4: ALL HEART

Today 4 friends from Charlottesville made time from their busy lives to be a part of Spirit Week. It truly warmed my heart seeing them there, sharing this experience together, and supporting both me and the Shaver family. Thank you so much Anand, Azaria, Madeline and Graham. I'll never forget how you made me feel today.

Seeing them there made me realize every time a volunteer walks through the door I feel so much appreciation in my heart. They don't have to be there. They may not even want to be there. But there show up anyway. This world is full of amazing people who give their time freely to help someone who needs it. Thank you to all the volunteers who worked so hard over the last 4 days to get us to where we are.

We just about finished all painting downstairs today. Thank you Yvonne and John! Thank you Drema for prepping those stairs! There are a bunch of loose ends to wrap up then we'll be heading upstairs tomorrow.

DAY3: We're half way there! We've accomplished so much with the help of all the volunteers and talented contractors. The turnout so far has been amazing. The house is really coming along but we have lots of work ahead to deliver an amazing home for Kyle and his boys.

Thank you Danz Electric for helping with all the electrical work throughout the house. Dan turned out to be the dog whisperer calming the dogs as soon as he arrived!

Amy & her 2 daughters came ready to work and helped push the project forward with painting in the dining area! They weren't going to let a few spiders stop them!

DAY2: FULL OF VOLUNTEERS!
What a special day. Jesse and Yvonne from the Staunton Ruritan Club painted LOTS and LOTS of trim today. Dawn and Drema blessed us by coming back for more today! A big thanks to Bill for working so hard and giving us a few extra hours. Thank you Jenny and Amy for painting and cleaning. Thanks to Heather, Gavin, Tanner, Brooke, Mark and Scott for framing, painting, and helping with drywall. Thank you Luke for being onsite the ENTIRE day helping the volunteers and mudding away!

A special thank you to Steven Courtney with Flipping Shenandoah. Steven is a close friend and brought the entire Double K Service team with him to help. Steven, Andy, and his team of 4 helped hang the remainder of drywall, wall prep, and install baseboard for us. It was a huge help and brings us closer to the finish line for Kyle and his sons.

Day One of Spirit Week is in the books! 🛠️✨

We kicked things off strong with an incredible team of volunteers and hardworking contractors. Together, we made huge progress hanging drywall throughout the house and painting several rooms — it’s amazing to see how quickly things are coming together when people show up with big hearts and willing hands! But we have lots of work ahead so if you want to join us this week we’d love to have you. The more hands we have the more we can accomplish for the Shaver family.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out today to lend a hand. Your time, energy, and spirit are what make this week so special. Can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish together tomorrow! 💪🏽

Thank you C&B Renovations LLC! Joel & Norma rearranged their crew's schedule for tomorrow to help us have a strong start with Spirit Week. They will hang, tape and mud drywall in several rooms of the Shaver family's house. We've worked with them for over 8 years now and consider them family. They do amazing work and handle all things to do with home renovation. Thanks again Joel & Norma!

✨A HOME CAN CHANGE A LIFE - AND SO CAN YOU ✨

In just 2 days, Spirit Week begins — one of the most meaningful things we do each year at Spirit Homes.

For one week, our team, local contractors, and volunteers from the community come together to repair and renovate the home of a deserving family. A family who could use a little light, a little hope, and a home of their own. This Monday we start with a fixer upper in need of repairs. On Sunday the family will arrive to see the home move-in ready and transformed!

This project wouldn’t be possible without the heart and hustle of volunteers like you! We’re still looking for extra hands to help out — whether you’re skilled with a hammer or just ready to lend a hand, there’s a place for you on our team. Even a few hours can make a huge difference.

But we can’t do it alone.

The Shaver Family has been selected for this year's Spirit Week 2025! Kyle Shaver is a recent single hardworking dad to 4 young sons. They are currently living with family and have been working hard to fix up a family home. Kyle and his sons are looking forward to a fresh start in this new home, but...
