Fall doesn't exactly sneak into Steamboat. 🍂

One week the hills are mostly green, the next there are bright yellow aspens popping up everywhere you look. By mid-September, the change is officially underway.

Now comes the fun part: watching a little more gold show up every day. 👀

From September 18–25, 45 artists from across the country will spread out across the Yampa Valley for the Steamboat Art Museum Plein Air Event, painting everything from ranch lands and historic sites to the changing fall landscape right where they see it.

It’s basically a week of getting to watch Steamboat become a painting in real time. Keep an eye out while you’re around town. You might just catch an artist at work.
