The “curse” first hit Clay in 1991, when, upon graduating from UT Austin in Marketing, he deci
ded to take a season or two to be a ski bum with a quest to hit all major ski areas in the Northern Rockies. However, upon reaching Steamboat, he gave up his planned sojourn because he knew he was home. Then in 2006, Michelle was relocated to Steamboat to work on a multi-family real estate development project. Working for a development firm as a sales and marketing executive, she ran the project from foundation to sales before “the YV curse” and Clay’s charm took hold. Within a short time, Michelle and Clay were married, founded the Garner Team and eventually, they grew into The Garner Group at eXp Realty Steamboat Springs.
