Closing Costs
The Money Buyers Forget to Budget
Your down payment isn't the only cash you'll need at closing.
A buyer finally reaches the finish line.
They've saved for the down payment.
They've found the house.
They've been approved.
Then they discover there are other costs associated with getting to closing.
Depending on the transaction, buyers may encounter expenses such as lender fees, appraisal costs, title-related expenses, prepaid taxes or insurance, and other closing costs.
The exact amount varies.
That's why I encourage buyers to build a cash-to-close strategy, not simply a down-payment strategy.
And here's an important conversation to have early:
“What funds will I need beyond my down payment?”
The earlier you ask, the fewer surprises you're likely to encounter.
Save this post and make “cash beyond the down payment” part of your buying checklist.
