Metrorail opens November 15th in Loudoun County
The Silver Line Metrorail to Dulles Airport and Loudoun County opens Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Consider these tips when preparing to ride.
Operating Hours –Metrorail operates Monday through Thursday from 4 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.; Friday from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.; and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. The opening and closing hours are critical when planning early morning or late-night travel.
System Map – The iconic Metro system map now includes the six new Silver Line stations. Explore the map to see how Silver Line passengers can ride to Tysons, Arlington, and the District of Columbia without transferring to another line.
Trip Planning – Get familiar with the WMATA Trip Planner. Note the feature to plan by arrival time, departure time, earliest trip, or last trip. Get real-time information and updates for connecting to Loudoun County Transit with Transit app.
SmarTrip – Purchase a SmarTrip card and add value online to avoid waiting for a fare vending machine. Metro fares are based on distance. The current maximum one-way fare is $6 on weekdays. On weekends, Metrorail rides are $2 per trip. A SmarTrip card can store up to $300 in value. Register your card to protect the value in case the card is lost.
Parking – The parking fee at Metro garages is $4.95 per day. Fees are collected when exiting the garages on Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. The Ashburn and Loudoun Gateway Metro parking garages allow overnight parking.
