📬 PROPERTY TAXES ARE ARRIVING — DON’T FORGET TO CHECK FOR EXEMPTIONS! 🏡

Many homeowners across Illinois are opening their property tax bills and noticing a significant increase this year. One thing that may help reduce your taxable value is making sure you’re receiving every exemption you qualify for.

Some common exemptions include:

✔️ Owner Occupied Homestead Exemption
✔️ Senior Citizen Homestead Exemption
✔️ Senior Freeze Exemption
✔️ Disabled Veteran Exemption
✔️ Disabled Person Exemption
✔️ Returning Veteran Exemption
✔️ Home Improvement Exemption
✔️ Tenant Homestead Exemption

Also, remember this:

Your property taxes are based in part on your home’s assessed market value. If you believe the market value listed on your assessment is too high — meaning you realistically could not sell your home for that amount — you may be able to appeal the assessment or request a review through your county assessor’s office.

Since assessed value is generally based on a percentage of market value, a lower assessed market value could potentially lower your property taxes as well.

💡 It never hurts to:
• Review your exemptions
• Double-check your assessed value
• Contact your local assessor with questions
