Happy Halloween!!
SPD wants to remind everyone to follow a few simple guidelines to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable Trick or Treating experience.
1. Make sure your child has some sort of reflective clothing or reflective tape on their costume.
2. Have them carry a flashlight
3. Instruct them to trick or treat in a group and never alone and to walk and not run from home to home. (Dashing out in front of vehicles is the number 1 reason for accidents on Halloween)
4. Tell them to never go into a home without a guardian
5. If you are driving through the neighborhoods please go extremely slow. SPD will be out and we take speeding in the presence of children very serious
6. Check your child’s candy before they eat it and throw away any unwrapped goodies.

If you want to donate candy to SPD for the officers to hand out during their patrolling Halloween night call 665-4532 or message us and we will be happy to come pick it up.

A hard freeze is expected over the next 3 nights as overnight lows fall to the upper teens and low 20s. Make sure to bring in pets & plants, cover exposed pipes, and drip your faucets!

We will be observing Halloween on Halloween which is this Sunday. We are suggesting Trick-or-Treating be done between the hours of 6pm to 9pm. Please use extreme caution when driving through neighborhoods. Reduce your speed to a crawl when pedestrians are present.
Parents make sure your children Trick-or-Treat in groups or at least with a partner. Please have them wear some sort of reflective clothing and flashlight. Always discard unwrapped candy.

Take time today and tomorrow to prepare for possible power outages!

Please be aware we are facing the strong possibility of experiencing a devastating blow from hurricane Ida.
Do what is necessary now to ensure you and your family have the needed supplies to sustain you through a no power situation.
Stock up on water and non perishable foods.
Have flashlights and candles on hand. Emergency radio comes in very handy as well.
If you have experienced flooding issues in the past take actions now to sandbag your property.
No one can take care of you better than you so please don’t get caught sleeping!
