We’re excited to announce the annual Black Walnut Harvest officially returns October 1st and runs through November 16th! We're thankful for another year of this wonderful American tradition that takes place in the Midwest and Central-Eastern states. Unlike orchard-grown nuts, the Black Walnuts brought to our hulling stations are gathered from completely wild trees, picked up by individuals, families, landowners, community programs and youth groups. For generations, harvest season has brought people together to gather this native, wild American crop, creating lasting memories and traditions.
Want to join the harvest? Here’s how it works:
1. GATHER 🌰
Collect Wild Black Walnuts that have naturally fallen from the trees. Gather them up while they are still mostly green.
2. BRING 🚙
Take your gathered Black Walnuts to a participating Hammons hulling station near you: https://black-walnuts.com/
3. HULL ⚙️
At the station, the nuts are run through a hulling machine to remove the outer husk and reveal the hard shell underneath.
4. GET PAID 💵
You’ll be paid on the spot based on the final weight of your clean, in-shell Black Walnuts. This year’s opening price is $14 per 100 pounds.
So grab your buckets, gather your family and friends, and get ready to take part in the 2026 Black Walnut Harvest! See you at the hulling stations!
