I just closed the toughest and most stressful purchase transaction in my 18-year career.
And the biggest lesson that I learned about this is to never get emotional in front of clients.
That doesn’t mean that I don’t cry tears of joy after they get their keys in their hand. That’s different, job is done and I am celebrating with them.
In my opinion, emotion during a business transaction, especially in real estate, comes from fear of loss.
And the moment that shows up, clients will begin to think, “Hey do they have more to lose than I do?”
It is our job to be the grounding force throughout as our clients are allowed to be scared and they are allowed to show emotions.
When something goes sideways, responding with information and logic brings the temperature down and responding with emotion turns into a fight.
When you stay calm, people trust that you’ve seen this before. That you know what to do and that the issue at hand is solvable.
Thankfully most of the time it is and I couldnt be more grateful to be in the trenches with Team Yes You Can. The three of you could have responded and reacted so differently when things went sideways. This industry can be so high stress and when a transaction gets pushed to the brink like it did, it is easy for tempers to flare.
Instead the three of you chose:
- Grace
- Professionalism
- Partnership
You trusted me to get back in the trenches and fix it and you kept the clients calm when they needed it most. I will never forget how you handled this
The three of you showed what true professionalism looks like. You embody the “live better” motto at Cornerstone Real Estate Group..
I am so incredibly grateful to work with the three of you...next round and lunches is 100% on me. Thank you for having my back!
