Congratulations to the San Joaquin County Historical Society, the perfect new steward for this iconic property. Preserving Stockton’s history takes passion, vision, and commitment—and they brought all of it to the table.

We’re honored to share this message from the buyer:

Mahala and Will Burns showed me well over a dozen buildings across old Stockton before we settled on the Kress. They patiently worked with us while we assessed the economics of each site. Once we settled on the Kress, the Burns team again displayed their incredible diligence while working with us through the lending process, pinning down details with the seller, and ferrying the Kress transaction to completion. Last week we were able to show off Downtown Stockton’s Main Street to local leaders, bankers, politicians and Main Street America.

SECOND STOP: California Building
The second stop along our Main Street tour was the Verve IT offices on the ground floor of the California Building.

Verve opened its downtown Stockton offices in 2006 and has grown into one of the region’s leading technology service providers.

TOUR OF MAIN STREET 🌇

Last week we were able to show off Downtown Stockton’s Main Street to local leaders, bankers, politicians and Main Street America.

FIRST STOP: Bob Hope (Fox) Theatre
Built in 1930, this theatre was one of only two movie palaces in the Central Valley.
It was meticulously restored in 2001 and now hosts live theater, movies, concerts, and comedy shows.
