If the seller accepts the offer, the deal is done. If the seller rejects the offer, the deal is off. If the seller counters the offer, the deal is still on, but the terms of the offer have changed.
The buyer then has three options: accept the counteroffer, reject the counteroffer, or make another counteroffer. If the buyer accepts the counteroffer, the deal is done. If the buyer rejects the counteroffer, the deal is off. If the buyer makes another counteroffer, the process starts all over again.
