First organic farmer in Vermont who deserves lots of credit. Right up the hill from me. Good people. I love the maple yogurt best...sooo good.
Hello from the Butterworks Dairy Plant! We hope that everyone is staying safe. We are sending out love to families during this time of crisis.
Now, more than ever, local food systems and the interdependence of Vermont’s farming community are becoming our lifeline.
We want to ensure we are doing everything we can to meet your needs and keep your trust. The plant at Butterworks Farm has been working to fill increased orders. In short, we need more milk than we have and meanwhile dairies that make specialty cheeses have seen their market drop dramatically. Our friends in Waitsfield, at Von Trapp Farmstead have milk they cannot sell and would have to dump. ☹
We could buy their milk and make yogurt with it, but while they are Certified Organic, they are not 100% Grass-fed. Northeast Organic Farmers supports our decision to do this.
We pride ourselves on being honest about our farming practices, but also feel the pull of neighborly solidarity and want to feed everyone.
So we are reaching out for your feedback about using this (high quality, organic, but not 100% grass-fed) milk. Please note that if you feel strongly about eating dairy only from 100% grass-fed cows, we will provide lot and batch numbers to help you identify which product includes milk from the Von Trapp Farmstead.
Feel free to comment and ask questions. We will do our best to answer. Thank you all!
