Today, we’re celebrating our Executive Director, Amanda, as she marks 10 years of service and leadership at Sterling, and looking forward to the next decade of impact and engagement in our community!
For the past decade, Amanda has led Sterling Community Center with vision, courage, and deep care for our community.
Under her leadership …
✨ Sterling tripled in size, in revenue, staff, and community impact
🏛️ More than $10M in renovations, restoration, and capital improvements transformed Sterling House into a fully accessible, energy‑efficient community hub
🎒 Dozens of new programs were launched, including After School, Community Swim, and Sterling Advanced Futbol Club – a competitive travel league for kids 7-18 – as well as Food-4-Kids, a critical weekend food support program for students in Stratford Public Schools
🤝 Sterling remained open and serving through COVID, providing safe childcare, food access, and connection when it mattered most. Sterling Day Camp even became the first camp in the state to open its doors for an outdoor (and socially distanced!) summer of fun.
🎨 The organization completed a thoughtful rebrand – the first in its history – that clarified our mission, modernized our look, and better reflected the many ways we serve our vibrant and diverse community.
Please join us in thanking Amanda for 10 powerful years of welcoming all, bringing people together, and working tirelessly towards making this a community we can all be proud of.
