Zeus STILL sits in a shelter kennel day after day waiting for someone to spare a glance at him, to make his dreams come true...
Sadly, this cutie is the longest resident at The Shelter Connection in Port Washington, New York â sitting behind shelter walls since 2011. Heartbreaking doesnât even begin to describe the depth of our feelings about this.
Zeus is a Pitbull mix, around 10 years young, a goofy guy with a very loving personality. He is a big clown who loves hanging out with the shelter staff and volunteers. Zeus knows all of his basic commands and so much more! Zeus is an extremely well behaved boy who is waiting for the love of his life to walk through those shelter doors and take him home.
Zeus would thrive in a home as the only pet, but with him by your side youâll need no other. We know that needing to be an only pet makes it much more difficult to find a home, but we also have faith that there is a home out there that is just perfect for him.
When it comes to the dogs who need to be only pets we need to think outside the box. For example, perhaps you or someone you know just bought a house for the first time and havenât gotten a dog yet. Maybe you lost a beloved pet and are ready to fall in love again or are ready to see your child off to college. Your children may be moving out on their own and you have room for a new âkidâ in the house. Zeus is the boy for you!
An issue that this boy is dealing with is he does not âshow wellâ in the kennel. When potential adopters walk by he leaps and barks and gives a completely different impression from the dog he really is. This kennel behavior is not uncommon, and you should not judge a dog based on this particular behavior. How would you feel or act if it was you in that kennel. Zeus is no different, he has feelings too. He just wants to be noticed, heâs begging for attention, heâs begging to get out and no one seems to understand â he just wants to be loved.
Rescued dogs are known for an incredible outpouring of unconditional love. After all, youâre their hero! The bond youâll build with a dog like Zeus will lift your spirits and improve your quality of life. Open your heart, share your love and home with a dog who desperately needs it.
Zeus is also consider a senior dog and no dog especially a senior should be sitting behind shelter walls. He deserves better than this! Just look at the wisdom in his eyes, the confidence in his glance, and you will feel the tender unassuming way a senior dog loves. All dogs are beautiful but senior dogs like Zeus have a way of touching our hearts in a way that changes everything. Wonât you please give Zeus the chance he deserves?
