Happy Tuesday fellow Florida residents!
Let's TALK, mainly because it's TALK ABOUT IT TUESDAY, but also because...why not?
We have watched property values, insurance premiums, HOA costs, maintenance expenses and the overall cost of homeownership climb dramatically.
FACT: Amendment 3 creates a real financial challenge for local governments. Some (most) local governments have had the freedom to frivolously spend OUR tax dollars without question. If Amendment 3 passes, that frivolous spending will come to an end. The local governments will have a real responsibility to their constituents. Using scare tactics such as "Your fire services will suffer under Amendment 3." is NOT A FACT and quite frankly, makes my stomach turn. The local governments will be required to use our tax dollars for fire rescue and law enforcement, amongst other expenditures. THEY decide the fate of what post YES to A3 looks like for our towns (fire service included).
(my) OPINION (but we also know it's fact lol) If Amendment 3 passes, I expect our elected officials to do exactly what taxpayers elect them to do: prioritize essential services, examine spending, make responsible budget decisions and protect public safety while providing meaningful relief to Florida homeowners.
🔥 I support our firefighters (I am married to one).
🏡 I support our homeowners (I am one).
💰 And I believe taxpayers have every right to ask government to prioritize BOTH.
