The Part of Real Estate We Don’t Always Post About
Not every real estate story ends with a “SOLD” post. And honestly, I think it’s important to share that, too.
5040 SE Graham Drive in Stuart is no longer on the market. This one taught me a lot about the reality of representing sellers and why being a real estate agent is about so much more than putting a sign in the yard.
We received an offer $615,000, and I felt it was a strong offer based on the market, the feedback we had received, and the activity on the property. I personally showed the home more than 20 times, accompanied every showing, stayed on top of communication, and worked hard to give my sellers the exposure and service they deserved.
The day the offer came in, my sellers decided they wanted to increase the asking price by $40,000 rather than counter the offer.
Five days later, they decided to withdraw the property from the market.
And here’s another part of the story that you don’t always see: the day before the decision to withdraw, we still had a showing scheduled for the following day. The sellers ultimately decided they wanted to cancel that showing as well.
Was this the outcome I hoped for? No.
Was it a failure? I don’t believe so.
It was a pivot.
As agents, we see so much on social media about the wins new listings, multiple offers, contracts accepted, and SOLD signs. And those moments absolutely deserve to be celebrated. But there are also deals that don’t come together, sellers who change direction, buyers who walk away, and situations that simply don’t go according to plan.
That’s REAL ESTATE
My job isn’t to simply agree with my clients or tell them what they want to hear. My job is to provide honest market feedback, explain the options, advocate for their best interests, and help them make informed decisions even when my advice may not be the easiest thing to hear.
At the end of the day, a home’s value isn’t determined by what we hope to get for it. It’s determined by what a qualified buyer is willing to pay in today’s market.
Not every transaction is a win but every transaction is a lesson.
I’ll keep showing up, telling the truth.
