In 2019, we built this home on Isle of Palms for a family from Maryland.

In 2026, they came back. Two more bedrooms, two more baths, expanded porch, a firepit. Their daughter is getting married here in August.

The best compliment a custom home builder can receive is being hired twice.

In 2019, we completed a new construction custom home, 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗺𝘀, on 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗺𝘀 for an amazing family from Maryland. The home was designed in-house by our architect 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 with interiors by 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼, photographed by 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 once it was finished. It became a coastal retreat — the place this family came to slow down, reconnect, and gather.

𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀.

Their world has grown — grandchildren on the way, a daughter's wedding planned at the home this August. So we are now expanding the home with two new bedrooms, two new bathrooms, an enlarged porch living space, and a firepit. The original home was built for them. The addition is being built for everyone they love.

This is the part of building custom homes that does not show up in award submissions or magazine features. The trust that a family places in a builder when they come back. The privilege of helping prepare a home for a wedding, a christening, a graduation — the kind of weekend a family will tell stories about for decades.

𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗼'𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗮 on 𝗦𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗻'𝘀 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 is one of those homes — designed and built for the kind of relaxed coastal living that the Lowcountry does better than anywhere. Designed in-house by our architect 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴, with interiors by 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗰𝗮 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 and landscape by 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗗𝘂𝗻𝗻, the home was developed from the first sketch around how the family actually wanted to live in it. Not the version of island life that photographs well. The version that holds up to long mornings, slow afternoons, and the quiet hospitality that defines a real cabana.

That phrase — designed in-house — matters. Anita King is part of the Sea Island Builders team, which means architecture and construction were never separate conversations on this project. Every decision was made with both sides of the equation in the room. The result is a home that feels resolved in a way you can sense even when you can't quite name it.
