What if your neighborhood felt like a neighborhood again? 🌳🏡
We spent some time today at Hayes Park on Johns Island, celebrating a ribbon cutting and getting a closer look at what New Leaf Builders is creating here.

And this one is a little different.

Homes with Lowcountry character. Grand oaks and Spanish moss. Places to walk and gather. And restaurants, shops and everyday services woven right into the community instead of being a drive away. New Leaf describes Hayes Park as a pedestrian community built around connecting homes, businesses, neighbors and nature—and after walking around it ourselves, you can certainly see the idea taking shape.

We toured the model, wandered the neighborhood, enjoyed the ribbon-cutting festivities and, naturally, took some video along the way.

I never got a chance to post about this past weekend, but I absolutely have to brag on my baby boy for a minute. ❤️

Tristan, I had the BEST weekend supporting you at your very first weightlifting competition! 🏋️‍♂️💪

Getting away together, staying at the hotel in Lexington, laughing, having fun and getting to experience something completely new with you made the weekend so special to me. There was definitely a lot of learning on BOTH sides about how competitions work 😂, but what an amazing and exciting experience it was!

I was honestly so impressed—not only watching you compete, but watching all of the athletes, coaches, families and supporters. The strength, discipline, encouragement and sportsmanship in that room were incredible. ❤️

But of course, I was MOST impressed watching YOU.

As your mom, one of the things I have always tried to teach you and your sister is that we only get so many opportunities in this life to try new things, challenge ourselves and have experiences that help us grow. I have always been a huge believer in pushing ourselves to become stronger—not just physically, but mentally too.

And watching you step outside of your comfort zone, train for something, show up and COMPETE made me incredibly proud.

It wasn't about winning or being perfect. It was about having the courage and discipline to get there, put yourself out there, learn from the experience and see what you're capable of. And now you have your very first competition under your belt! 💪🏋️‍♂️

Tristan, I am SO proud of the young man you are becoming. You are strong, determined, funny, smart and capable of so much more than you probably even realize yet.

And selfishly, I'm also grateful for weekends like this because I know there are only so many years that I get these adventures with my baby boy before you're grown and building a life of your own. ❤️

So I'll take every road trip, hotel stay, competition, laugh, meal, crazy adventure and memory I can get.

So proud of you, Tristan. Keep challenging yourself, keep learning, keep growing and keep being YOU.

And just know your mom will always be somewhere nearby cheering louder than everyone else. 😂❤️💪
