Fall is taking shape at the farm. 🌱

Plastic is going down across the beds now, setting the stage for the next round of plantings, with squash, broccoli, and cabbage up next.

This simple layer does a lot of work: suppressing weeds, maintaining ideal soil temperature and moisture, reducing disease pressure, and keeping produce cleaner at harvest. It’s one more step toward giving each crop the best possible start.

Our Greens Mix is back in the Farm Store. 🌱

Freshly harvested and full of flavor, this vibrant mix brings together the best of mild and spicy greens, including red mustard, mizuna, tatsoi, and kale.

Toss it with sliced apples or pears and a little parmesan, gorgonzola, or blue cheese for a simple seasonal salad. Add it to wraps and sandwiches, fold it into grain bowls, or enjoy it simply dressed with your favorite vinaigrette.

Recently nature reminded us (again) that she’s the boss and we’re just here to follow orders. Our tomatoes and basil got roughed up, and a few baby seedlings didn’t survive their first big test.

Fun fact: heavy rain isn’t just bad for morale, it erodes soil and washes away the nutrients and organic matter our crops rely on. That’s why bare soil is basically banned around here. Roots are doing their best impression of tiny anchors, holding everything down while the sky loses it.

But you can’t out-farm a downpour. So this week’s plan: assess, replant, repeat. Same as it ever was. 🌱

We’re excited to welcome three new products from Edisto Gold Honey to the Farm Store: Pumpkin Spice Honey, Honey Lollipops, and beautiful gift baskets, just in time for the season of cozy flavors and thoughtful giving.

Earlier this year, the Edisto Honey family faced a devastating fire that destroyed part of one of their bee yards. Through an incredibly difficult setback, their team worked to save what they could and has continued the hard work of rebuilding.

That’s why supporting local businesses matters. Behind every jar of honey are real people, hardworking farmers, families, and a deep commitment to the Lowcountry.

This fall, we’re proud to celebrate the flavors of the season while supporting the resilient farmers who make our local food community so special. 💛🐝🍁
