On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, from 12PM to 3PM, the Summit Department of Community Programs will host a free Thanksgiving meal at the Community Center on 100 Morris Ave. in Summit. The catered meal will include roast turkey, traditional side dishes, pies, and other desserts, as well as coffee and beverage service. It is co-sponsored by FLAG of Summit, GRACE and Oakes Memorial Center. All members of the community are welcome.
Besides the holiday meal, the event will include a touch football game on Long Field, a Thanksgiving themed family movie, and arts and crafts for children. To attend, make a reservation online or call 908-277-2932.
The Senior Connections Bus will provide transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Please call 908-277-3932 to schedule transportation.

Due to Governor Murphy's State of Emergency and widespread flooding throughout the state, Summit Public Schools will be closed Thursday, September 2, 2021. An additional announcement will be sent Thursday by 12 p.m. regarding the status of after school activities.

Great news, overnight on-street parking is now an option.

Summit Police Department will be going live on Monday, March 1 at 9AM with Frontline Public Safety Solutions Online Parking tool. Once implemented, Summit residents will be able to log in to make an overnight on-street parking request and provide vehicle information to the SPD on the city website.

Walk-up Covid-19 Test in Berkeley Heights

The Union County Mobile Test Unit will be visiting Berkeley Heights Tuesday, January 5 to offer free Covid-19 walk-up tests.

No appointment required -- registration is done on-site with a mobile phone or tablet. Mask required. County residents can visit any walk-up test site. No food, drink, smoking or chewing gum 30 minutes prior.

UPDATE: A command post leading the search for this individual has been set up on New England Ave.

Missing from the New England Apartments area since about 0700 hours this morning (12/27/2020) is 81 year-old Christopher Seelbach, who suffers from Alzheimer’s. He was seen wearing the following:
- Brown/Tan “LL Bean” jacket
- Brown pants
- Black shoes
He frequently walks the area with a health aid, but is alone today. He may have the hood on the jacket pulled up. Mr. Seelbach does not have access to a vehicle.
We’re urging residents to check their backyards, garages, sheds— and to keep a look out if you’re out walking/driving. If you see Mr. Christopher Seelbach, immediately call 9-1-1 so we can get officers into the area and provide him the help he may need with the freezing temperatures.
