Ops!! Houston we still have a problem !!!
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful oceanfront building. It offered breathtaking views and served as a cherished summer home for many families, including owners from around the world. Everyone believed the building was strong, safe, and would stand forever.
But as the old Brazilian saying goes, *"Água mole em pedra dura, tanto bate até que fura"*—constant pressure, over time, eventually breaks even the strongest stone.
And one day, it did.
The building collapsed.
It was a heartbreaking tragedy that changed countless lives forever.
Since then, many owners of older condominium buildings in Florida have faced a different kind of collapse. Rising maintenance costs, special assessments, soaring insurance premiums, and increasingly strict structural requirements have created an overwhelming financial burden. For many, it feels like a story with no ending—one challenge after another, with no relief in sight.
Those of us who invested in older buildings have also experienced our own collapse—not of concrete and steel, but of financial security and peace of mind. We may not have lost our buildings, but we have certainly felt the weight of that tragedy.
One can only hope that, someday, this story will finally have a happy ending.- Let's colapse and build it again.
New policies that apply to mortgages for condos take effect Aug. 3, and some experts are sounding the alarm that buyers may see delays or denials.
