Are home prices too high? Obviously.

My recommendation is that if you're a buyer you should just hit the pause button for now. If you can sell your house right now (and don't need to buy a replacement property) do that. Sell now = Yes. Buy now = No.

Bidding wars have been the norm for a few years now in SoCal, but the last few months I've seen some high risk moves by buyers. Buyers are waiving contingencies like appraisal and inspections and overpaying for garbage properties.

Joining California at 5% to 9% too high were Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

I'm seeing more and more price drops these days. The holiday period (Thanksgiving - Presidents Day Weekend) is the best time to purchase a home because there are fewer people on the market looking. Holidays plus recent price drops = deal for home buyers.
