Oyster Creek and Bastrop Bayou Debris Removal Project Update

Brazoria County continues to move forward with the Oyster Creek and Bastrop Bayou Debris Removal Project.

During May and June, the County completed the competitive bidding process and conducted a thorough review of all submitted proposals. The contract has now officially been awarded to James W. Turner Construction, LTD.

The next steps include finalizing the required purchasing documents, issuing the purchase order, and conducting a pre-construction meeting. Following that meeting, the County will confirm and announce the official start date for debris removal activities.

The map provided highlights the section of Oyster Creek and Bastrop Bayou included in the debris removal project.

Brazoria County remains committed to advancing this important project and will provide additional updates as work progresses.

📢 Community Update | Freeport LNG Planned Maintenance

The City of Freeport would like to make residents aware that Freeport LNG has announced a planned major maintenance turnaround beginning July 10 at its pre-treatment and liquefaction facilities.

During this scheduled maintenance, you may notice increased flaring activity at the facility. While this may be more visible than usual, it is an expected and controlled part of the maintenance process to help ensure the facility continues to operate safely and reliably.

The maintenance is anticipated to be completed late next month.

We appreciate Freeport LNG for providing advance notice so we can help keep our community informed. Thank you for your patience and understanding as this important maintenance is completed.

I’m extremely excited to announce this!
When I was contacted about donating life jackets to Surfside Beach, my first thought was simple — how many lives could potentially be saved because of this program.
As Chief of Police, one of my top priorities is making our beach as safe as possible for residents and visitors alike. These life jackets will provide an extra layer of safety for families enjoying the water and help prevent tragedies before they happen.
Please take a moment to look at the attached flyer and consider supporting this effort. Every donation helps us put more life jackets into the hands of people who need them.
Stay tuned for updates on when the first shipment of life jackets arrives. We may even launch a fun program to reward beachgoers we spot wearing their life jackets in the water!
