originated from (Rose) named after my grandmother (Rose Maranda Jarvis-Stiens) for her incredible strength, perseverance, and family values. I had a bond that was so special and unique, and I have genuinely missed her every day since she passed. She lived with my sister, father, and me for a period of my childhood, and her impacts on me were lifelong. She was a mother of seven, a widower twice, a
grandmother of twelve, and lost three children before she passed. She never stopped loving and always provided. After her first husband passed, she went into business for herself and once owned a delicatessen on Farwell Avenue just north of Ogden. She did this to keep the family afloat, only to get shut down after selling beer to minors shortly after opening. Following the deli, she became Kohl's food store's head cashier and bookkeeper in the 1950s. In 1960, she left Kohl's and began work for the Goldberg Family at the Grand clothing stores. In 1964, after the passing of her second husband, she took a temp position at Pabst in the accounting offices until an opening became available in the Pabst Credit Union. For fifteen years, she labored at the credit union. The strength this woman had and the leadership she exhibited through all her pain, loss, and hardships was something to be truly admired and revered. At 50 years old, she returned to school and earned her certificate for credit union leadership. That is who we are at E.S.O.R.
