The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to temporarily lift its ban on buyers directly paying for professional real estate representation until the agency deems it necessary to engage in a formal rulemaking process, said Michelle Corridon, VA deputy director of policy. Veteran buyers have limited options in situations where the listing broker makes no offer of compensation to the buyer broker, potentially leaving Veterans without professional representation or forcing them to switch to less favorable loan products.

When you list your property and choose not to compensate the buyer's agent, you hurt the average buyer for sure!

BUT WHO YOU REALLY HURT ARE OUR VETERANS, who are trying to utilize a zero down payment loan product THEY EARNED due to their service! THE IDEA of this product is to reduce the barrier to entry on home buying, CLOSING COSTS. If Veterans have to pay their agent out of pocket at close, this essentially NULLIFIES those savings. That could be the difference between being able to afford to close or not. You could be forcing our Veterans to make the tough choice of going unrepresented. No one wants our Veterans to have less opportunity or be taken advantage of!
