Congratulations to these extra special clients of mine! My parents decided to move back to the area (after just a little bit of begging on my part 😉) and we’ve been on the hunt for a house for them since November! After multiple different offers, a couple times under contract, and what felt like a million hiccups along the way, we are finally to the finish line and I couldn’t be more thrilled for them! The kids and I are going to miss having them camp out in our driveway but I guess a 5 minute drive isn’t so bad 😆

It’s been a busy couple of months! Two closings in 2 weeks!! I represented the buyers on both. I met both families last year and at the beginning of their home buying journeys. One year later, a ton of work on their sides getting mortgage ready, a few solid house hunting days, and they are both in their new homes before the holidays!! Many buyers are concerned about high interest rates—but you can overcome them!

There are several strategies you can use to get the lowest interest rate possible for your mortgage.

First, focus on improving your credit score. Credit scores are one of the main things your lender will take into consideration when determining your interest rate. A higher score will mean a better interest rate.

Then shop around for different mortgage rates. Remember that different lenders will have different rates and terms, and you can ask lenders to compete against each other for your business.

You’ll also want to look into local homebuyer assistance programs. These can help score a lower interest rate if you meet the qualifications.

Once you find a mortgage you love with the terms and rates you’re looking for, ask your lender what it would take to lock the interest rate and make sure that it doesn’t increase while the home is in closing.

Buying a house right now is very doable and I can help! I currently have two buyers in escrow and we were even able to get seller credits on both transactions!
