We mixed up our running route to take advantage of every lookout at Point Defiance park this morning…didn’t see the whale(s) but wow the views were gorgeous and we bumped into lots of folks who had the same plan in mind.

So how’s everyone feeling? We’re exactly one week into the New Year and for me 2024 is finally starting to feel real. (Taking down the rest of the holiday decor helped).

These sun breaks the last few days have done wonders for my mood…who is hoping for snow this week? ❄️❄️❄️

On this Thanksgiving eve, let it be known that I’m grateful for the holiday lights that turn cold nights into warm views…because it’s dark as hell out there! I drove home by the actual light of the 🌖 at 6:30 pm tonight.

Extra big shout out to you early decorators and the die hards who keep the warm white lights twinkling. You’re keeping nostalgia alive ✨and I appreciate you (we had to switch to LED and it just hasn’t been the same).

If you’ve been thinking about planting some trees, here’s a great way to get started!

Big news!

Being the tree-hugging dirt worshipers that we are, we are participating as vendors in Tacoma/Pierce County’s Tree Coupon Program this year.
If you are one of the people saying, "The Tree what-now??? Whazzat?"

Here it is:
The city, county, and TPU have collaborated to give, just for the asking, a coupon to any qualified Pierce County resident, a coupon that can be used for $30 off the cost of a tree. The coupon can be used for up to three trees, each of the three trees gets $30 off (up to $90 in savings!). Trees must be in a 5 gallon or larger pot and must grow to a minimum of 15 feet at maturity.

Astute readers will have probably stumbled over the part about 'qualified' Pierce County Residents - here's what that means:
Tacoma really really wants more tree canopy coverage and is generously including the rest of the county in the program. The program has been going annually since 2016. You are eligible based on your address. If you have gotten and used the coupon for your address before, you are not eligible. I’ve never been a scream queen (and honestly the real world seems scary enough right now).

In true Tacoma fashion, is brightening up a well traveled stretch of concrete that runs along Commencement Bay. The inherently dark space under an overpass is the perfect spot to share a little sunshine - especially with the arrival of our seasonally gloomy weather.
