Cherokee Nation clothing assistance program closes this week! Please see details below.

The Cherokee Nation’s Children’s Clothing Assistance Program application is now open.

To help parents with back-to-school shopping, a one-time payment of $150 through the annual Children’s Clothing Assistance Program is open to income-eligible Cherokee citizens under the age of 19. There are no residency restrictions for this year’s application eligibility.

Cherokee Nation Human Services is now accepting applications through the tribe’s online Gadugi Portal at https://gadugiportal.cherokee.org. The deadline for the application is Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 5 p.m.

(Please note for applicants aged 18 who experience difficulty or receive an error message, Cherokee Nation IT is working to have this resolved in the coming days. For those qualifying Cherokee Nation citizens living outside the United States an application will open separately on the Gadugi Portal at a later date, and more information will be shared about that application soon, so stay tuned to the Cherokee Nation page and Gadugi Portal for more updates.)

To qualify, applicants must be a Cherokee Nation citizen as of June 24, 2025, and must be under the age of 19 years old. Household income must not exceed 150% of the federal poverty income guidelines for household size (see graphic below).

We hope this program helps our Cherokee Nation families with children and their back-to-school shopping needs.

Wado.

Free breakfast and lunch for all Tahlequah Public School students this next year!

Free breakfast and lunch for all Tahlequah Public School students this next year!

Exciting News for the 2024-25 school year, Tahlequah Public Schools will implement a new option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

This means breakfast and lunch will be provided FREE of charge to all students this year. Parents/guardians do not need to fill out a form for their student to receive free meals.

We encourage ALL Tahlequah students to take advantage of this program by eating nutritious meals provided by their school cafeteria. If enough students eat school meals this year, the district may be able to provide free meals for all students again in future years.

We will ask parents/guardians to complete an Economically Disadvantaged form for their household, which was included in the pre-enrollment process.

This form is for school funding purposes only. It is NOT a meal application, and eligibility cannot be determined by that form.

If your student has money on their meal account, there will be opportunities to use those funds for a la carte and extra food purchases.

Questions?

For questions regarding Child Nutrition and CEP, please call Heidi Krueger at 918-458-4193 or Lacie Wilson at 918-458-4100. [email protected] or [email protected]

About CEP

CEP is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
