Here's what you missed at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) meeting last week.

TRPA approved amendments focused on affordable and workforce housing town centers (think Kings Beach and Tahoe City commercial core's). These include increased density and building height limits to alleviate housing shortages.

Starting in 2024, this initiative, backed by a $2.4M grant, aims to balance luxury development with workforce housing, addressing the current inventory imbalance (i.e., little to NO housing for our workforce).

TRPA is tackling the affordability gap affecting Lake Tahoe’s community and environment by updating policies and supporting affordable housing projects. This includes enhancing infrastructure, transportation, and providing secure housing for local workers.

You might ask:
-How are the locals responding to the proposals?
-Have lawsuits been filed against the TRPA?
-Are developers excited now? Well, we have a couple that are. Reach out and I'll tell you what got them off the fence to invest.
