From a few weeks ago, Soren’s first day on skis.
This winter has been different. The most detached I’ve been from Ski Patrol in my 17 years in Tahoe. A death in my immediate family. Little to no snow. A close call with an Avalanche while performing mitigation during one of two storms the Sierra Nevada’s have endured this winter.
All of it has allowed me to step back and see Tahoe, and life, from a different perspective during this particular time of year. I’m uncertain if it’s age and maturity, a chapter in my book that I’m ok with being over, seeing things for what they are, or just another page in the story.
Whatever it is, the answer will come. But I can tell you one thing for sure. It all feels pretty damn good.
