A tremendous amount of books, Vintage and Hawaiian Men and Women's Clothes from the 50's to the 90's, incredible amount of Sewing and Art Supplies. A fantastic Vintage Eames MCM Chair and Ottoman and great Asian Furniture pieces. Our passed owners owned a shop in Hawaii and this sale shows it! It's the Big Meow and Cat-tastic! WHY HALSTEAD'S DOES ESTATE SALES!
Halstead's Helping Hands Estate Sales had a most interesting and fascinating Estate Sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday...the 'Arts and Crafts/Stickley Era' Estate Sale on B Street in Ashland. Our local Ashland Artist, Denise Kester had several monoprints that were featured in the Philip Lang estate sale! Lang was a Bear lover and Denise paints Bears quite often.
Through the years my sister, Debie Halstead and I have been a fan of Denise Kester's work. We have followed her when she had a showing at local galleries and also attended many times her annual Studio sale.
For some reason I felt Denise would want to know that we were selling them. I attempted to email Denise to let her know that we would be have several pieces of her art at our sale. But there was no response. However to our excellent 'luck' Denise showed up at the sale. She was looking for her two monoprints that were special to her.
I love putting these very special events on several times a month. It's all about 'Story', 'History', and 'Discovery'! In Denise's case she arrived just about five minutes too late to get the two monoprints...two other buyers had been when the doors opened and scooped them up. What came of that experience for Denise must be shared....I invite you to read her letter in her monthly email about her experience! It is very heartfelt and it makes me know why my sister and I have always followed her art!
"Dear Friend,
An unusual thing happened to me yesterday. I went to an estate sale to buy back two monoprints that were significant to me. "Refuge of the Tenderhearted" and Bear Brings the Berries." Even though I arrived 5 minutes after the sale opened both pieces were sold. One was already out the door.

The experience reminded me that I have always felt that my artwork didn’t belong to me. I believe that it has a life of its own and a destiny of its own. My work will find it's own way in the world, this I trust.
It is very reassuring to me about my place in this story. And that I am truly on the right path with my work, reminding me, again, that I should not doubt what I am doing.
