Modern Retirement: Aging in Place:
Aging in place refers to a senior citizen, or other person with a disability, living independently in their own home for as long as possible. As someone enters into their elderly years, or has a disability that progresses over time, they lose the ability to manage the ongoing repairs and maintenance needs that are required to maintain the home and properties condition and value.
Every day roughly 10,000 people reach the age of 65, equating to nearly 4 million baby boomers entering into retirement each year. The majority of baby boomers have very different expectations than their parents when it comes to their retirement lifestyle. 90% of retirees would prefer to age in place, however, 80% have not properly prepared their homes to be able to effectively manage and maintain the property as their needs change. In some cases these Baby-Boomers are also caring for their elderly parents and trying to manage their home’s maintenance and repair needs. As homeowners age we are less able to perform proactive periodic inspections to identify and conduct maintenance and repairs of our home and the condition and value of the property declines.
Aging Population and Dishonest Contractors:
Seniors are the most at-risk when it comes to fraudulent contractors and home improvement scams. Why are they preyed upon more than other types of homeowners? First, seniors own more than half of all the financial assets in the United States, making them prime targets. 30 percent of all scam cases in the United States list seniors as victims. Research shows that seniors are more susceptible to scams than other age groups, either because they’re more open or polite.
In terms of fraudulent contractors, the US Department of Health estimates that 60 percent of the elderly live in homes 20 years or older. These homes usually need updates and renovations like walkways and other improvements for better accessibility. As such, when a fraudulent contractors comes to offer a deal, seniors do not ask as many questions or complete background checks because they need the work done. When they realize they have been duped, they will often not report it for fear of shame or being put in a home. If they do decide to report the home improvement scam, they will usually remember fewer details about the crime.

• Boom-Gen provide 3 hours Handymen labor services for all monthly inspection services. These hours can be used for household chores, repairs or yard maintenance. Homeowners are only responsible for any materials that may be required.
• Boom-Gen automotive condition and maintenance Inspections for our monthly inspection services. Battery inspection, tire condition and pressure, headlight and signals oil and fluid levels are checked to ensure the safe usage of the vehicle.
• Boom-Gen the tracks and provides maintenance recommendations to the homeowner so they are protected from unneeded or unwarranted repair or maintenance from dishonest repair shops.
