There's great news for businesses that lease commercial property in Florida. Starting December 1, 2023, the sales tax rate (state portion) assessed on commercial rents is dropping from 5.5% to 4.5%, thanks to Governor DeSantis' signing House Bill 7063 into law earlier this year.

The local sales tax rate (in Leon County) will remain at 1.5%, which will bring the total sales tax due on commercial rents to 6%.
