Huge news for Killearn and the Country Club. Dear Members,
I’m happy to report that after two long years of litigation, we have finally reached an agreement with the Killearn Homes Association (KHA). Though it took a while to get here, we are excited that we will finally be able to move on with our plans to revitalize the Killearn Country Club.
Through our restrictive covenant with the KHA, we have solidified our promise to keep the new development of holes 7-9 of the former North course an age-restricted community and to use the funds from the sale exclusively on renovations to KCC. This begins with a minimum of $4 million that will be put in escrow – and all of which will go towards rebuilding the clubhouse and it’s facilities, as well as adding amenities that will keep us competitive.
Additionally, we are limiting the number of new lots to a maximum of 133 single-family homes to ensure that they are seamlessly integrated into the existing nearby communities. Any new homeowners on these lots will then become dues-paying members of KHA.
KHA members will also gain exclusive access to the conservation easement that will reside on the land that was holes 1-6 from the North course. The conservation area will be an open space with walking trails with modifications made to help with stormwater management.
Most importantly, our covenant with KHA maintains our most important promise: a guarantee to keep KCC and the course open for at least another 50 years.
From the start, we have been dedicated to ensuring the success of not only KCC but Killearn Estates. We are glad that with this suit now settled, we are able to continue moving towards our goal of keeping Killearn a golfing community. Your support of our plan and patience during these past two years has been invaluable.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
N. Barton Tuck
