Hey everyone, with the extreme cold temperatures and wind I would strongly recommend slightly opening up any cabinet doors that have pipes on an outside wall. Like your kitchens and bathrooms. Crawl spaces are vulnerable too. Also if you have a forced air heating system, turn the fan switch to “on” on your thermostat. That will help balance the air in the house and reduce the chance of freezing pipes too. Stay warm everyone!

The chimney is often an item that gets overlooked because it’s out of sight out of mind. Inspecting and proper maintenance is important. Mortar joints deteriorate and fall out leaving voids in the chimney that can allow water pe*******on and if left unchecked bricks can fall out too. Chimney crowns shed water off the chimney and they often need replaced. Issues like this can be seen from the ground with binoculars so don’t forget to check your chimney out this spring and keep it properly maintained.
