So yesterday I cleaned out my pull-out spice rack. I had a 3 shelf rack built in beside the stove when we remodeled 2 years ago. Half of the spices were expired. So I made a list of what I was throwing out and ran over to Publix. Bad idea! Then I went to Winn Dixie and looked at the cute little jars vs. the Bada spice line. They were 30% to 50% of the cute little jars price. I don't care what the bottles look like anyway because they are in a pull out drawer. So I get to cloves and almost lost my mind. The price was over $9.00 for a jar of ground cloves! And I had a least 12 others to buy. So I decided to go back to Publix and see if they had the little 2 or 3 ounce jars. In the meantime I had to stop at Sprouts. I remember seeing some bulk spices in the back of the store near the dairy section. They have big containers of each spice, some little zip lock bags, a scale to weigh them and pens to right the item number on the bag. I got 2 ounces (I couldn't even remember if I've ever used an entire jar of cloves). $.75 at the register. If I'd been thinking, I wouldn't have thrown out the old bottles. I would dump the older spice and refilled with the new, written the date I bought it on the jar and been done.

Prayers for Sallie today. She's been having stomach problems and is scheduled for a scope today. She's been getting sick, refusing to eat and wants to eat grass. The vet said it could be an ulcer or stomach cancer. He will take some tissue samples and send to the lab. I've had her for 10 years this month. She was a pound puppy who's owner didn't want to treat her for chronic collitis. My vet cleared it up in a few weeks with medication. She's been fine ever since. She loves to watch people through the bedroom window and will clean your face for you.
