HIGH SCAM ALERT IN FLORIDA
(particularly for new property owners)
I recently bought a house in Polk County and received a SCAM bill from a very official looking County Records Office, LLC., for $98 to receive a copy of my transferred deed. Looks official and even wants to charge me 3.5% fee for giving them my credit card number! For me, the “LLC” was a giveaway, but stopping and prosecuting companies for this kind of scam should be a priority for all Florida counties or even the Florida Atty General.
Multiple counties here in Florida put out SCAM warning on this company, County Records Office, LLC. Those scam alerts can be found if you Google County Records Office, LLC, but so many people, commonly elderly people, are not technically inclined and simply pay the bill when received.
I really don’t know how these companies avoid prosecution. The companies are despicable, unethical and bottom feeders, preying on the weakest among us. Since it seems like all Florida counties know about the SCAM, some County official with prosecutorial powers, needs to step up and SHUT THEM DOWN!
