Tuesday ended with dinner at a friend’s restaurant in Thurmont (side plug for Simply Asia- go try it!) where we got fortune cookies. Then mine fell out of the bottom of the wrapper and shattered on the floor- it seemed unlucky, so we all stared at it and decided not to look at the fortune and opened the second one. The message seemed clear, very fitting for Independence Day and served as a reminder that the fear of retaliation can not ever supersede your freedom of speech.
Tonight’s Council meeting might be good.
It might be bad.
It might be unpopular.
It might simply be common sense.
Maybe you have something to say, or to simply listen and learn from.
But conversations matter.
Communities don’t grow by avoiding the hard discussions — they grow when people are willing to show up, listen, share experiences, and look honestly at what has worked and what hasn’t.
History has a funny way of repeating itself when lessons aren’t learned. The goal shouldn’t be to point fingers at the past, but to make sure we build something better moving forward.
Different perspectives, different experiences, and even disagreements are how stronger solutions are created.
See you tonight, Taneytown. ❤️
