Did you know the Powell River is one of the few major undammed rivers left in the eastern United States?
Flowing through Claiborne County and the surrounding Appalachian region, the Powell River has long been part of everyday life in East Tennessee. Generations of families have spent summers fishing, kayaking, swimming, and exploring along its banks.
Because the river remains largely untouched, it supports a wide variety of wildlife and some of the most naturally beautiful scenery in the region. On quiet mornings, you can still find fog rolling across the water with the mountains in the background β one of those views that reminds you why so many people love living here.
The Powell River is more than just a waterway β itβs part of the history and character of Claiborne County.
