If we haven’t met yet, hi. I’m Heather. 👋🏼

I’m a mom, a Realtor and a woman who once looked at her life and thought, “Well…this can’t be it.”

So I started over before I felt ready.

Now I’m building a life that feels like mine and reminding other women that they’re allowed to do the same.

This page is for the woman who is grateful, exhausted, hopeful, scared and quietly wondering if she’s meant for more.

You are.

You don’t need the entire plan. You just need enough courage to make the next mildly terrifying decision.

If that sounds like where you are right now, welcome. I saved you a spot at my table. 🫶

I used to tell myself I’d take care of me when things calmed down.

When the kids needed me less.
When work slowed down.
When everyone else was okay.
When I finally got caught up.

Which is adorable, honestly. 😂

Because apparently no one is coming to announce, “Great news! Everyone’s needs have been met. Your inbox is empty. The children need nothing. You may now relax.”

There will always be another email. Another problem. Another snack. Another tiny fire that, for reasons still unclear, apparently requires me specifically.

So I stopped waiting for life to get peaceful.

I started creating little pockets of peace right in the middle of the chaos.

Ten minutes alone.
A walk.
A 20 min meditation.
Yoga.
Sitting in my car for five extra minutes before going inside because nobody knows where I am yet. 😂

I spent a lot of years thinking taking care of myself came after taking care of everyone else.

Now I know better.

Because I don’t want to build this big, beautiful life for my girls and somehow disappear from it in the process.

The life I’m building gets to have room for me, too.

And so does yours. 🤍

Starting over gets talked about like it’s one big, brave decision.

It’s not.

It’s waking up the next morning wondering if you just ruined your entire life.

It’s learning that peace can feel lonely when chaos was all you knew.

It’s letting people misunderstand you because explaining yourself for the 47th time still won’t make them understand what they didn’t live.

It’s grieving the life you thought you were getting while accepting that it was never the life you actually had.

And it’s continuing to work, raise your kids, pay the bills and make dinner while feeling wildly unqualified to rebuild an entire life.

I didn’t feel brave through most of it.

I just kept doing the next necessary thing.

That is what “do it scared” means to me.

It isn’t pretending you aren’t terrified.

It’s refusing to let fear send you back to the life that was breaking you.

If you’re in the messy middle of starting over, hard doesn’t mean wrong.

Keep going.

Which of these five did you need someone to tell you? What piece of advice would you give another woman who is starting over?

I spent a lot of years telling myself, “I can handle it.”

And the annoying part? I could.

I could carry the weight.
I could figure it out.
I could keep showing up.
I could make it work.
I could hold everything together and make it look pretty damn convincing from the outside.

But just because you can survive something doesn’t mean you’re supposed to keep choosing it.

That one took me a while.

You don’t have to wait until you completely fall apart to decide you’re done.

You don’t need a catastrophic reason.
You don’t need everyone else to understand.
You don’t need permission.
And you definitely don’t need a perfectly mapped-out plan for what comes next.

Sometimes “I don’t want to live like this anymore” is enough.

Sometimes wanting peace is enough.

And maybe strength isn’t proving, over and over again, just how much s**t you can handle.

Maybe strength is finally saying, I know I can keep doing this. I just don’t want to anymore.

Then making the mildly terrifying decision to change it.

Because I promise you, the scary unknown has nothing on finally knowing what peace feels like.

Turns out, a regulated nervous system is pretty damn sexy. 😂

Thank you for these kind words! It was such a pleasure working alongside you through this process.

One minute you’re lying on the floor questioning every decision that led to your kids owning this many toys.

The next you’re replying, “Absolutely! Let’s do it today!” like a woman who has her life completely under control. 😂

Working moms really deserve a trophy 🏆 for how quickly we can pull it together when the phone rings.

I wish I could tell you I made the decision because I finally felt strong.

I didn’t.

I made it scared. Exhausted. Unsure of myself. And honestly…pretty damn broken.

There were days I cried in my car and then wiped my face because my girls needed their mom.

Days I had absolutely no idea how I was going to keep everything together.

Days I had no clue how I was going to pull off what came next.

But I never questioned the decision.

I knew I was making the right choice.

I just had no idea how I was going to build the life on the other side of it.

So I started anyway.

Before I felt ready.
Before I felt brave.
Before I had some beautiful five-year plan for how the hell I was going to pull it all off.

I worked.
I healed.
I journaled.
I rebuilt.
I kept showing up.

And some days, “showing up” looked a whole lot more like limping than confidently walking into my new life.

But I kept going.

And now?

I get to watch my girls play and explore and laugh in a life that once felt impossibly far away.

There is peace in our home.

There is freedom in my choices.

And there is a woman standing here now who knows, without a doubt, that she can figure s**t out.

Because I built this beautiful life for us.

Scared.
Messy.
Without all the answers.
One mildly terrifying decision at a time.

And if I had waited until I felt fearless?

If I had waited for the timing to be perfect, for someone to give me permission, or for some magical moment when I suddenly felt ready…

We might still be waiting.

That’s the thing about doing it scared.

It doesn’t always look brave while you’re doing it.

Sometimes it looks like crying in your car, wiping your face, taking one deep breath and saying:

Okay. What’s next?
And doing the damn thing anyway.

Some days I can work for 14 hours straight, solve everyone’s problems and carry an amount of responsibility that would make most people need an immediate vacation.

Other days, answering one text feels like more than I have the emotional capacity for.

I’m fiercely independent because life taught me how to figure things out.

But being capable of doing everything alone doesn’t mean I always want to.

Even strong, independent women occasionally want someone else to say, “I’ve got it.”

We don’t need rescuing.

We’d just like to temporarily unsubscribe from being in charge of everything.

So here’s to the wildly capable, slightly overwhelmed, chronically overthinking women who keep doing it scared anyway.

Apparently, we’re Type C.
