Californiaโ€™s very first Smart Freeway pilot project has officially been switched on. ๐Ÿšฆ

โš ๏ธ This is not a City of Temecula project. โš ๏ธ

Riverside County Transportation Commission installed new smart on-ramp meters at Tem Pkwy, Rancho Cal, & Wi******er Rd, which include traffic sensors & digital message signs intended to help reduce stop-and-go conditions on the freeway at a cost of $33 million (originally estimated to cost around $25 million).

According to RCTC, you may initially experience slightly longer wait times at the on-ramps, however, traffic flow on the freeway is expected to see improvements overall.

The proposed Golden Pacific Powerlink project is scheduled for the City of Temecula's City Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 26th @ 3pm (Item #19 on the Agenda):ย  ย https://temeculaca.gov
