What an exciting week as our team gathered alongside SRP and project partners to witness a major milestone — the demolition of the historic Crosscut Campus Steam Building!

Originally constructed in 1938, the Steam Building has long been part of SRP’s legacy. Seeing its removal marks a significant transition, as we make way for the future while recognizing the impact of what stood before and on Arizona's communities.

With demolition now underway, our team is focused on safely preparing the site for what’s next—the development of two new buildings that will support the consolidation and expansion of SRP’s operations. This transformational project will bring modern, efficient facilities to the campus and help position SRP for continued growth.

A big thank you to Salt River Project and our partners DFDG Architecture and BCS Enterprises, Inc. for the collaboration and shared commitment to this project. We’re proud to be part of this next chapter.

Say hello to Emily Pratt, our Member of the Month! ✨

Emily is a Marketing Specialist at Caliente Construction and has been an SMPS member since early this year. She joined at the encouragement of her manager, who wanted her to take advantage of the valuable opportunities and connections SMPS offers.

Emily currently serves on the Social Media & Publicity Committee, where she manages the weekly SMPS newsletter. “It’s been a fun way to stay connected to everything going on within the chapter,” she shares.

SMPS has already played an important role in Emily’s professional growth by connecting her with others in similar roles who understand the day-to-day challenges and opportunities within the AEC industry. Through committee involvement, she’s gained new perspectives, fresh ideas, and opportunities to continue developing her skills.

Emily says she’s especially inspired by the strong female leaders she’s worked alongside throughout her career at women-owned companies like Caliente Construction. Watching them lead with confidence and continue to break industry expectations has been incredibly motivating.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys making the most of Arizona’s beautiful weather by hiking with her dog, relaxing by the pool, and trying new restaurants around town.

This Memorial Day, we’re taking time to slow down, reflect, and remember those who served our country with courage and selflessness. We’re incredibly grateful for the people who have dedicated themselves to a cause greater than themselves, and for the families who support them every step of the way.

We were excited to join Scottsdale Community College, Maricopa Community Colleges, and the City of Scottsdale - Government this week to celebrate the groundbreaking of SCC’s new Equine Science facility!

This 22,000 SF project will create a dedicated, hands-on learning environment at one of the nation’s premier equestrian venues. The facility will include 10 horse stalls, a hay shed, an equipment shed, and a dedicated farrier station—supporting real-world workforce development in a professional setting.

Previously, the program operated without a centralized clinical training facility, requiring students to travel across the Valley. This new site at WestWorld will bring hands-on learning into one location, creating a more accessible and sustainable experience for students and faculty.

Thank you to our partners for the collaboration and trust. We’re excited to bring this impactful project to life and look forward to its completion in Summer 2026.

The Caliente team kicked off the summer season with a night at a Arizona Diamondbacks game!

It was a fun opportunity to get together, enjoy some great baseball, and spend time outside of work alongside our friends, families, and kids. These moments are a true reflection of our core value of having fun together and building relationships not just as coworkers, but as a community.

Moments like this are a big part of what makes our team what it is, and it was a great reminder that stepping away and spending time together is just as important as the work we do every day.

As we close out Construction Safety Week, we are reminded that the conversations, commitments, and actions taken over the past several days are just a snapshot of what safety should look like every day.

At Caliente, safety is not just a priority for one week, it is a responsibility we carry on every project, every day. Throughout the week, our teams participated in project Stand Down meetings to pause, reset, and refocus together, alongside team lunches and safety giveaways that brought everyone together and reinforced key messages in a meaningful way. These moments created space for open dialogue, shared accountability, and a renewed dedication to doing the job the right way.

We continue to invest in ongoing education and strengthen our collaboration with our risk management partners, ensuring our teams have the tools, knowledge, and support they need to work safely and confidently.

Safety is not the responsibility of a few. It takes every single one of us. From the field to the office, everyone plays a role in protecting one another.

Because at the end of the day, the goal is simple: everyone goes home safe.

The ribbon is cut, and the City of Avondale Fire Training Tower is officially open and already being put to work, with firefighters actively training at the facility!

Caliente Construction is proud to celebrate alongside the City of Avondale, AZ, Avondale Fire & Medical, and the community at this week’s Official Ribbon Cutting event. With training demonstrations and food trucks on site, it was a great way to see the community come together, share in the excitement, and mark the completion of the project.

This five-story, state-of-the-art training facility includes a burn building, flashover chamber, SCBA maze, rappelling tower, and a wide range of hands-on training environments designed to prepare firefighters for real-life conditions.

This project represents more than just a building; it’s an investment in training, safety, and the people who protect our communities every day. Supporting fire service and public safety is something we’re proud to stand behind. It’s always great working alongside LEA-Architects to help bring this vision to life, and we’re honored to have delivered a facility that will serve Avondale and surrounding departments for years to come.

Happy Earth Day from the Caliente team - Today is a great reminder of why we love what we do!

We’re grateful for our clients and partners who share our commitment to creating spaces that encourage people to get outside, stay active, and connect with their surroundings. Our Parks & Recreation projects with the Cities of Tempe and Phoenix, along with Maricopa and Pinal Counties, are just a few examples of the kind of work we’re proud to be part of. And as a team, we also embrace that same spirit outside of our projects, regularly coming together for outdoor activities that reflect our culture and connection to the communities we serve.

Building and enhancing spaces that bring people together and support healthy, connected communities is something we don’t take for granted. It’s a meaningful part of how we contribute to the places we live and work.
