Notice to Residents - Fiber Fraud

The City has been made aware that fiber internet companies are soliciting residents and suggesting that members of City leadership and/or the City Council have endorsed their services as a preferred provider.

We want to clarify that the City has not endorsed or designated any fiber company as a preferred vendor. Any statements suggesting that a company has official support from the City or the City Council are inaccurate.

Multiple providers operate in our community, and residents are encouraged to evaluate their options and choose the service that best fits their needs. For additional information about “Fiber Company Questions to Ask” and “Solicitors”, see the posts pinned at the top of our City page.

If you have questions or concerns about fiber installation or right-of-way work in your neighborhood, please contact our Planning Department at 254-953-5648. If you would like to report a solicitor, please call Code Enforcement during business hours at 254-953-5650 or, if after business hours, the Police Department non-emergency number at 254-953-5400.

Thank you for helping us keep our community informed.

I originally posted this on my personal page but I wanted to share it here as well. My heart goes out to all.

Heavenly Father,
In this moment of heartbreak and uncertainty, I lift up Central Texas to You. My hearts is broken and I can’t find the words. For all those lost, I ask that you wrap their families in Your comfort. Bring them peace that surpasses all understanding as they grieve. I pray for those still missing, including the young girls from summer camp. God, hold them in Your protection. Surround them with Your mercy. I pray for safe returns, for clarity, and for strength as the hours stretch on.
Be with every family member waiting for news, every parent holding onto hope, every loved one crushed with worry. Fill their hearts with courage and the assurance that they are not alone.
Thank You for the first responders, search and rescue teams, and volunteers who are tirelessly working through dangerous conditions. Give them strength, wisdom, and safety as they serve with courage and compassion. May they feel Your hand guiding them with every step.
Let Your presence be felt in every corner of this storm, in the stillness, in the chaos, in the sorrow, and in the hope. Bring healing to the broken, peace to the fearful, and unity to the community.
In Jesus name I pray,Amen.

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
