Older homes can have so much character. The details, the charm, and the feeling you just don’t always get with newer construction. But before falling in love with what you can see, it’s important to understand what may be happening behind the walls, under the roof, and beneath those beautiful finishes.

Electrical and plumbing systems, the roof and foundation, previous renovations, and ongoing maintenance can all affect what owning that home actually looks like long-term.

An older home isn’t automatically a risky purchase. A well-maintained one can be an incredible find. The key is knowing what you’re buying and asking the right questions before making the commitment.
