I used to be a cool Realtor… but now I say things like:

1. “Just because the bank says you can afford it doesn’t mean you should spend it.”
2. “I know you love the house… but I wouldn’t let my own family pay that much for it.”
3. “If the inspection makes me nervous, I’m going to tell you.”
4. “No house is worth being house-poor.”
5. “You can change the countertops. You can’t change the location.”
6. “I’d rather lose the sale than watch you make a bad decision.”
7. “If you have to talk yourself into the house, it probably isn’t the one.”
8. “Don’t waive something important just because you’re scared of losing the house.”
9. “Sometimes the best deal we make is the one we walk away from.”
10. “I’m not here to sell you a house. I’m here to help you make a decision you’ll still be happy with years from now.”

After 20+ years in real estate, I’m probably not going to be your “yes man.” 😂 I’ll tell you what I think, even when it isn’t what you want to hear. That’s part of looking out for you.
