Each closing is special in its own right. But some hit a little closer to home than others.

I met Johnna through her best friend, Vicki Scott, whom I met through mutual friends. Quite the “who knows who” chain, but some of the best people find their way into your life that way. 🧡

So when Johnna needed me, it felt natural to show up the best way I knew how: as a solid real estate agent, an inappropriate storyteller, and someone with a gift for making even mundane tasks awkward.

Johnna was great to work with! Thoughtful, thorough, and a master organizer—she made my Type A, Virgo heart very happy.

Her boys were a treat, too. All three have such different personalities, and they’re just great kids. Although the youngest may give me a run for my money in the ridiculousness department. 😉

This work brings people into my life who remind me how much joy there is in showing up for someone, getting to know them, and enjoying the process along the way.

I was going to say “enjoying the ride,” but that brings back a very specific memory from six years ago: Johnna driving my Subaru, ramping railroad tracks, while I sat in the back seat writing a purchase agreement for Vicki. Now THAT was one hell of a ride.

An empty house is just a blank canvas. This one has so much potential. From cozy movie nights in the living room to a backyard made for fall evenings, and a coffee station in the kitchen… I can already picture it. 🍂🕯️🤎

A few months ago, I got a call from a young fella who said, “My parents told me to call you.”

That sentence alone means a lot to me. But this one is extra special because he’s the third generation of his family I’ve had the privilege of representing.

I’ve worked with his grandparents, his parents, and now I’m working with him and his little family as they look for a home of their own. 🧡

And the connection goes even deeper. His mom worked with my husband, Adam. Plus, his dad volunteered to be my driver when he retires.

I’m not entirely sure how much work we’d actually get done…but he has promised to stop at every Starbucks and keep me supplied with unlimited Diet Coke, so I’m willing to give it a shot.

Three generations, a whole lot of history, and now another trip to the closing table.

Something tells me this one is going to be one hell of a bumpy ride. And I’m here for it. 🧡

One of the best parts of this business is when clients don’t really stay “clients.”

Last week, I got to spend a couple of hours visiting with some past clients who relocated here from Iowa about 3½ years ago. We’ve stayed in touch over the years — and, of course, we’re Facebook friends — but after they’d been through a long illness, it was especially nice to just sit, visit, hear their stories, and walk through the house they’ve truly made their home.

And yes… somewhere along the way I gave them a quick price opinion on the house because, well, apparently I cannot help myself. 😉

When they were buying, we toured our fair share of homes and had plenty of adventures along the way. And somewhere in all of that, I earned one of my favorite nicknames from a client: “Snickers.”

Apparently my tendency to giggle at slightly inappropriate moments did not go unnoticed. 😂

This is one of the things I love most about real estate. The houses are important, of course. But the people, the stories, the relationships and getting to see what happens after the closing table?

That’s the really good stuff. 🧡
