Sometimes the biggest ministries begin in the middle of our hardest seasons.

This week, our Realty Fanatics Group team spent our mid-month meeting and serve day with Scott and Catie Swenson at Fearfully and Wonderfully Made, one of our 2026 Your Closing, Your Cause partners.

We helped unpack event bags and prepare items for storage—many hands really do make light work. But the most meaningful part of our visit was hearing the story behind the ministry.

In 2017, Scott and Catie’s son, SJ, was born at 30 weeks, weighing just 2 pounds, 3 ounces. He spent his first 65 days in three different NICUs. During that difficult season, people in their community showed up with prayer, encouragement and practical support. Scott and Catie believed even then that God would use their family’s experience for something bigger.

Today, that “something bigger” has reached families in 15 states, with more than 800 Blessing Bags delivered to NICU families.

Each Blessing Bag is a backpack intentionally filled with practical help—restaurant gift cards, quarters, milestone markers, a NICU journey journal, hygiene essentials, a devotional and more. But what makes these bags especially meaningful goes beyond what is packed inside.

Every Blessing Bag is prayed over and intentionally prepared by FWM and community members who want families to know they are seen, supported and not walking this road alone. It is a tangible way to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

The ministry has grown beyond Blessing Bags, too. Through Remember Me With Joy, FWM comes alongside families who have experienced infant loss with resources, devotionals and support.

There are many ways to serve—Festival of Trees, packing opportunities, prayer groups, childcare during support groups and family nights out, event volunteering and more.

This is why Your Closing, Your Cause matters to us. Every nonprofit has a story, and we believe those stories deserve to be heard.

Today, we remember the innocent lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders who ran toward danger with extraordinary courage. We honor the countless acts of bravery, sacrifice, and compassion shown by ordinary Americans during our country’s darkest hours.

A quarter of a century later, we still remember where we were, what we felt, and how our nation came together. May we continue to carry that spirit of unity, kindness, and service forward—not only today, but every day.
