Weekend weather update βοΈ We continue to closely monitor the latest forecasts, and our primary concern for this weekend's winter storm is the dangerously cold temperatures that are expected. A hard freeze is likely; please make your preparations now.
βοΈ Wrap your pipes, check on your neighbors or family members who may need help preparing, make plans to keep your pets safe & warm, and bring plants indoors or cover them.
βοΈ At this time (Thursday, Jan. 22 at approximately 5:30 p.m.), no City facilities are scheduled to be closed, although all of our water features, fountains, and water in restrooms at our parks will be turned off this weekend in preparation for freezing temperatures.
βοΈ Texas City ISD has not made a decision regarding Monday's school operations. District leaders will continue to evaluate conditions, and an update regarding Monday will be communicated by TCISD on Sunday.
βοΈ The only weekend/community event currently impacted by the weather is the Kid Fish event that was originally scheduled for Saturday morning. City of Texas City Recreation and Tourism has rescheduled the event for Feb. 21.
βοΈ A warming center will open tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 23) at 6 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church and will be open 24 hours a day, offering shelter, clothing, showers and hot meals.
Please keep checking our social media and/or website, as we will share any updates/announcements as they become available.
